General Motors originally started the Share the Spare program in 1988. The operation was set up to store and distribute machine spare parts required for GM stamping presses. Metal Fabricating Division has expanded the concept by consolidating all major spare parts for its various machines under one roof. The centralized inventory benefits MFD by reducing costs associated with maintaining multiple inventories.

Established in 1981, SETECH, Inc. is a large-scale “Pure” Integrated Supplier headquartered in Murfreesboro, TN with corporate offices globally.

The Ideal Group has received GM Supplier of the Year 2002, 2003, 2004, and 2005 as well as NMSDC Supplier of the year!

 

 

Recently, the Share the Spare program was moved to the Ideal Setech facility in Howell, Michigan. This newly formed partnership in cooperation with MFD leadership maintains and manages the consolidated inventory. Leveraging the Ideal Group’s existing facility, and Setech's experience, and combining the entrepreneurial approach of the leadership of the two companies has produced an aggressive and dedicated team to meet the demands of the program.
